All Fields are Closed for Maintenance until August 28th
Fall Registration is Now Open
Registration is now open for Westport Little League’s Fall Baseball season! Please register below by choosing the grade your little leaguer will be in when school begins at the end of August. Games are once per week on Saturdays from September 8th through October 27th.
We have attempted to schedule game times on Saturdays that do not conflict with the traditional Fall sports, so you can sign up without having to worry about scheduling issues!
The goal for the Fall season is for players (beginners to advanced) to continue developing their baseball skills while having as much fun as possible! We always receive a significant amount of positive feedback from the Fall season. It’s a great experience for the children in a more laid back environment.
IMPORTANT: Volunteers are needed! If you would like to coach or help out in any way, please select the appropriate option when registering. Additional information about registration and the Fall season can be found below the registration links.
Pre-K and Kindergarten – Saturday Game, 4 PM to 5 PM, 9/8-10/27. For our youngest age group, our main focus is teaching players the basics of the game – throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, and base running. One 60-minute game per week on Saturday afternoons + one practice per week scheduled by each team’s coach.
1st and 2nd Grade – Saturday Game, 2 PM to 3:30 PM, 9/8-10/27. A mix of coach pitch and machine pitch during 6-inning games seeks to maximize hitting and fielding reps for players throughout the fall. One 60-90 minute game per week on Saturday afternoons + one practice per week scheduled by each team’s coach.
3rd and 4th Grade – Saturday Game, 11 AM to 1 PM, 9/8-10/27. Games are a combination of machine pitch and kid pitch as players get fully introduced to competitive little league baseball. One 6-inning game per week on Saturdays between 11 AM and 1 PM + one practice per week scheduled by each team’s coach. Scores and standings are kept.
5th Grade (AAA) – Saturday Game, 1:15 PM to 3:15 PM, 9/8-10/27. One 6-inning Little League baseball game per week. All kid-pitch with scores and standings. One practice per week scheduled by each team’s coach.
6th and 7th Grade (Majors) – Saturday Game, 4 PM to 6 PM, 9/8-10/27. One 6-inning Little League baseball game per week. All kid-pitch with scores and standings. One practice per week scheduled by each team’s coach.
(Please note that age groups are subject to change based on final registration numbers.)
We’d also like to remind you that Westport Travel Baseball registration is open and can be found HERE. Unlike in the Spring, Westport Travel baseball players are not required to play Fall Little League baseball, although we do encourage it.
ADDITIONAL FALL LITTLE LEAGUE INFO:
There is one game per week on Saturdays. The season is expected to begin on Saturday, September 8 and end on Saturday, October 27. Practices will take place on a day and time selected by your child’s coaches.
Game times are subject to change based on registration levels and other conflicts which may necessitate a change to our schedule.
Teams are expected to be selected and announced by August 31st. Team practices will be scheduled by coaches once teams are selected. When registering, please note potential conflicts in your child’s Fall schedule so that those responsible for populating teams can try to take them into account to avoid schedule conflicts.
REGISTRATION AND FEES:
The registration fee for Fall Little League Baseball is $195.00 for grades 3-7 and $175.00 for grades PK-2. After August 31st, the registration fee increases by $50 per player.
Please note that your registration is not considered complete until payment of the registration fee is made. Please also be aware that the Little League website automatically deletes all registrations that are not paid in full within two hours, thereby deregistering your child and preventing us from placing him/her on a team. If you have unpaid registration fees in respect of any summer baseball program, including Districts teams, your request for registration will be declined, and your child will not be placed on a team until you have paid such outstanding fees.
If you are applying for financial aid, please be sure you have completed the online registration and selected the financial aid option. Your registration will not be deleted for non-payment. In order to pursue financial aid, please contact Westport Human Services within a week to set up an appointment to determine if you are eligible. You can contact WHS via email at:
If your child is playing in one of our programs for the first time, you must mail a copy of his/her birth certificate to Westport Little League. In addition, if this is the first time a member of your family is participating in one of our baseball programs, you must also mail proof of residency (such as a utility or phone bill). Please mail these items to:
Westport Little League P.O. Box 581 Westport CT 06881
Westport Little League manages programs for hundreds of children each season and we do our best to form balanced teams. In PK/K, Grades 1 and 2, this also means having at least some children from your child’s school on his/her team. However, due to the size of our program, the complexity of assembling teams and the volunteer nature of our organization, we will NOT honor requests for children to be placed on the same team at any level other than PK/K and Grades 1 and 2, where we will try to honor some requests.
COACHES, COACHING REQUIREMENTS AND PAIRING REQUESTS:
We need parents to volunteer their time to coach Little League baseball teams this Fall. Westport Little League Commissioners will choose one pair of coaches only for each team from among those who have volunteered to coach. Once teams are announced, each team may add another (league-approved) assistant coach from its roster. Westport Little League will not accommodate requests for more than two parents to coach together. If you are interested in coaching or volunteering to help run our programs, please check the appropriate box when registering. All coaches will be required to pass a background check, have a valid National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) membership and undergo mandatory concussion training prior to the start of the season.
Westport Little League will provide helmets to first time registrants and caged helmets to children playing Westport Little League in grades 3 and higher.
Non-wooden bats must have the “USA Baseball” stamp, and one “USA Baseball” bat will be provided to each team (2018 Little League rules).
Refunds will be issued (less a $25 processing fee) for cancellations that occur before the announcement of team rosters. After team rosters are announced, refunds will only be issued (on a pro-rata basis) for season-ending injuries with a doctor's note.
INTEGRATION WITH WESTON LITTLE LEAGUE
Following the successful integration in the Spring, we are in discussions with Weston Little League about integrating our Fall Little League programs at certain age groups depending on registration numbers in Westport and Weston. Weston teams would be separate, and there would be games in nearby Weston for age groups where we integrate.
If you have any questions about our programs, please refer to the helpful tabs along the left side of our website for more information. You can also ask questions by emailing
As many of you in the Little League community learned today, Perrin Delorey, a 10-year-old Westport Little League player, passed away tragically following a car accident on Sunday afternoon after visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
Perrin passed with his Little League glove beside him. I will always remember him, as he appears in this photo after receiving a game ball this Spring season on May 5.
On behalf of Westport Little League, we offer our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Delorey family and friends.
I am sending this note not only as the President of Westport Little League Baseball and Softball, but also as a coach of his AA team, the Cubs. I have gotten to know Perrin very well over the years while coaching him in baseball, basketball and soccer.
Wearing #5 on the Cubs this season, Perrin embodied the ethos and spirit of Little League. He exuded the team player concept and was committed to working hard to help his team.
Awarding him a game ball earlier in the season, and seeing his face in the moment, was a highlight of the coaches’ and players’ season. He was the most improved player on the team this season, and a joy to coach. My co-coaches and his prior coaches all echo this sentiment. He will deeply missed by his teammates, coaches and friends.
This news hits the Westport Little League community especially hard in these circumstances. Perrin’s first cousin, Phillip Sullivan, plays on the AA Brewers team and his grandfather, Bill Ryan, is a longtime friend and supporter of Westport Little League. Please join me in supporting the Delorey, Ryan and Sullivan families during this incredibly difficult time.
Westport Little League intends to honor Perrin in a number of ways that we will be announcing and we will share different ways you can honor his memory.
When Perrin’s mother mentioned to me that Perrin would miss the Cubs playoff game this past Saturday, I promised her that Perrin would play another game with the Cubs after Saturday — no matter what happened this past Saturday on the field as a function of the double elimination nature of the playoffs — and reassured her that he should not miss out on a trip with his family and a visit to Cooperstown.
While the latter was certainly true about spending precious time with his family, I could not have been more wrong about the former, as events off the baseball field dictated the tragic course of events.
If we can take anything away from this senseless tragedy, it is that life can be transient and fragile, and one should relish every moment with one’s loved ones on the field and off the field.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Perrin’s family and friends.
